Alaska Fly Fishing Trip Itinerary

Arrival day in Anchorage

It is recommended to arrive the day before on Saturday and spend the night in Anchorage.  It is easiest to take a cab or Uber to the charter flight. There may be some flights into Anchorage on the same day in time to meet the Lake and Peninsula Airlines (LPA) flight on Sunday afternoon.  Please book your commercial flight to Anchorage arriving no later than 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Give yourself ample time to transfer from a commercial flight to your LPA charter flight.  

You will depart on Sunday at 4 p.m. from Anchorage with LPA.

It is your responsibility to get to LPA via hotel shuttle, Uber, or taxi. 

Upon arrival in Iliamna, you will be met by the floatplane pilot at the LPA terminal and transferred by van to the to the floatplane lake.  You will then be flown to the Copper River Lodge in a De Havilland Beaver (this is about a 15 minute flight).

Arrival to the Lodge

The guides will meet you at the plane with our boats and transfer you to the lodge.  This is a 5 minute boat ride so keep your jacket out if it is a rainy day.  You will arrive at the lodge in time for dinner. 

Monday through Friday

Fish, fish, and fish some more.  Usually breakfast is at 7 a.m. and departure is at 8 a.m.  You can fish until 6 p.m.  Please note that the schedule can change.  Please visit the Our Fishing Program page to view a general  fishing schedule. 

Departure Day

On Saturday, you can get some fishing in if you still need to catch a few fish.  You can usually fish for 6  hours on Saturday.  You will then depart at 5 p.m. on the floatplane.  This gets you to Iliamna in time for the 6 p.m. flight to Anchorage.  You will arrive in Anchorage around 7-8 p.m.  It is not recommended to book a flight to the lower 48 until after 9 p.m. that evening.
